Automatic Case Magazine Loading

Automatic loading of flat cardboard blanks into a case packer or case former magazine is a complementary solution for end-of-line automation. An onboard detection system identifies the presence and position of the blanks on the pallet. Using this information, a six-axis articulated robot picks the blanks from the pallet and loads them into the case packer or former magazine. The robot can manage a pallet containing up to six stacks of flat blanks, while the gripping system uses a simple, robust mechanical design.

Automatic case magazine loading – patented solution

An automatic solution for loading flat cardboard blanks into the magazine of a case packing system.

Using a six-axis robot and a universal gripping system, this compact module can pick from pallets containing up to six stacks of cardboard blanks. The system was developed for JYGA wrap-around case packers and can also be adapted to most case packers and case formers.

Advantages of automatic magazine loading

This highly compact solution uses a single robot positioned directly in front of the case packer magazine. Depending on the application, the robot can operate within perimeter guarding or use a collaborative function without a full enclosure. A safety scanner detects an operator entering the robot area so the cell can slow down or stop according to the distance.

Automating magazine loading frees operators for higher-value tasks and reduces MSD risks by removing the need to carry and position stacks of flat cardboard blanks manually.

The robot is programmed from the case packer HMI or, on an older existing machine, from an additional screen. The cardboard format, pallet dimensions and the number and arrangement of blank stacks are entered into the program.

  • Reduced musculoskeletal disorder risks
  • Operators available for higher-value tasks
  • Simple mechanics for easier maintenance
  • Integration on new or existing lines
  • Compatible with a wide range of case formats, including wrap-around cases, trays and shelf-ready cases
