Processed meat packaging
The processed meat industry uses many packaging formats and processes, including shrink-wrapped products, aluminium film, aluminium or cardboard trays and lidded pots. JYGA works at the end of production lines handling packaged processed meat products. Our experience and technical expertise enable us to provide end-of-line solutions for rillettes, pâtés, smoked ham, cured sausages and many other products. Applications include case packing, mixed packing, cartoning and palletising.

Our machine solutions
Food & beverage packaging machinery
JYGA offers food and beverage packaging machinery for cartoning, case packing, palletising and automated handling projects. From standalone equipment to complete lines, JYGA machines are robust and designed for food-industry environments including cheese, dairy, prepared meals, biscuit production, baby food, pet food, processed meat and meat.
Machines designed for processed meat packaging areas
JYGA provides processed meat manufacturers with tailored, flexible and high-performance end-of-line machinery for handling and packaging processed meat products.
Downstream of slicers, portioning machines and similar equipment, JYGA can supply tray sleeving systems, cartoners, wrap-around case packers, top-load case packers, robotic loading solutions and palletisers. Equipment is designed for easy operation through ergonomic, intuitive HMIs, with simplified access for maintenance and intervention.
JYGA processed meat packaging machines are suitable for chilled and even sub-zero environments commonly found in processing areas. Stainless-steel construction provides resistance to external conditions and cleaning products, while hygienic design minimises product-retention areas and facilitates cleaning.
From standalone equipment to complete end-of-line systems
For processed meat production, JYGA supplies standalone equipment as well as complete end-of-line packaging systems. Beyond individual machines, JYGA considers product flows, communication between machines and layout optimisation. Complete solutions can incorporate conveying, handling, orientation and product collation – for example, preparing rillettes pots before case packing and palletising. JYGA has also engineered complete lines from tray sleeving through to palletising black pudding trays.
A specialist in wrap-around case packing and robotic palletising since 1992, JYGA also works with trusted partners to recommend upstream packaging equipment such as tray sealers and thermoformers.
JYGA also integrates complementary systems including product labelling for traceability, vision inspection for quality and compliance, and product marking.
For manufacturers, working with a single partner for the entire end-of-line system simplifies project communication and helps ensure reliable interaction between all equipment.
Packaging machines designed for processed meat products
Whatever the processed meat product to be handled – rillettes pots, pâtés, ham trays and more – JYGA pays particular attention to gentle product handling. Whether the product is unpackaged and freshly cut or already in primary packaging, JYGA systems use carefully designed gripping solutions for delicate pick-and-place handling.
JYGA applies the same care to the cardboard packaging used in its systems. Products can sometimes be moist, so robust cases suitable for these conditions are important. JYGA therefore works with trusted cardboard packaging partners with whom it has long-standing relationships.
Handling a wide range of processed meat products
JYGA packaging machines are flexible and scalable and can handle a wide range of processed meat products. These include cured products such as chorizo, ham and dry sausage; cooked products such as cooked ham, pâté, rillettes, andouille and black pudding; and products intended for cooking or frying. Automatic format-change solutions improve productivity and reduce machine downtime, allowing operators to manage changeovers directly from the HMI in just a few minutes.
Modernising traditional processed meat packaging: a JYGA wrap-around case packing application
Traditional products such as black pudding, rillettes and tripe retain strong culinary heritage, but their production increasingly benefits from modern automation. A well-known processed meat producer selected JYGA to modernise its black pudding production lines, demonstrating how flexible automation can improve case packing while respecting traditional products.
A packaging challenge solved with flexibility and efficiency
To meet the producer’s requirements, JYGA recommended a flexible wrap-around case packer capable of handling both standard trays and more complex packs. With 19 different formats, the machine demonstrates the versatility required in modern processed meat packaging.
Case packing process
After overwrapping, black pudding trays enter the wrap-around case packer. For standard trays, two robots work together using vacuum end-of-arm tools to place each tray carefully into the case: the first robot begins the loading pattern and the second completes it.
For shelf-ready cases with lids, a vacuum gripper selects the required lid and transfers it to the stacking unit. Once formed, the lid is placed over the product batch by a handling unit before the pack is integrated into the shelf-ready case. The process illustrates the precision and agility required for modern processed meat packaging.
A major step towards automation in processed meat production
This case study highlights both the role of automation in preserving traditional production and the need for flexible equipment. JYGA’s wrap-around case packing solution supports this transition with efficient handling suited to long-established processed meat products.
A trusted partner for processed meat packaging
JYGA supports processed meat packaging projects from the earliest planning stages. Based in western France, the project teams can present equipment at full scale in virtual reality within the customer’s production area, helping teams assess layouts and make decisions. JYGA also works with local suppliers for machine design and offsets the carbon emissions associated with each machine through tree planting in France.
