Wrap-Around Case Packer for Blood Sausage Trays

This wrap-around case packer was designed for a processed-meat producer specialising in products such as black pudding, rillettes and tripe. The company wanted to preserve its traditional recipes while modernising its production equipment. It therefore asked JYGA to automate two black-pudding lines, from sleeving through to palletizing. This case study focuses on the case-packing stage.

Project & solution

To meet the requirement, JYGA recommended a flexible, versatile wrap-around case packer capable of packing products into both open shelf-ready cases and PAV-style cases with lids.

The black-pudding trays arrive at the wrap-around case packer from an overwrapping machine.

Case 1 – shelf-ready cases:
At this station, two robots each pick a black-pudding tray in tracking mode using a suction-cup gripper and place it into the case at their respective stations. The first robot starts filling the case and the second completes it at the following station.

Case 2 – PAV-style cases with lids:
A suction gripper picks the lid from a magazine and transfers it above a stacker. The gripper, mounted on a manipulator, picks the lid, places it on the batch, forms it and loads the complete assembly into the PAV-style case.

At the following stations, the case flaps are successively folded, glued and pressed.
