Palletizer for Blood Sausage Trays and PAV Cases

This palletizer was designed for a processed-meat producer specialising in products such as black pudding, rillettes and tripe. The company asked JYGA to modernise its production equipment by automating two black-pudding packaging lines from sleeving through to palletizing. This case study focuses on the palletizing stage.

Project & solution

To meet the requirement, JYGA recommended installing a two-line robotic palletizer.

The palletizing robot is installed downstream of two wrap-around case packers. Each case packer can pack products into open trays as well as PAV-style cases.

The palletizer therefore uses a gripper capable of handling both case types arriving on the conveyor from the case packers. An integrated realignment system in the gripper ensures perfect alignment between lower and upper layers.

Cases arrive at a rate of 5 to 10 cases/min. The palletizer can palletize trays and PAV-style cases simultaneously.

The palletizer also handles empty-pallet pickup and placement.

Once complete, the pallets are discharged for manual operator pickup.
