This application was developed for a national leader in the design and manufacture of dry pet food. The company asked JYGA to supply an automatic palletizer for multipacks of pet-food bags. The palletizing cell had to receive the multipacks, receive stacks of layer pads, integrate with an existing pallet conveyor and palletize the multipacks.
Project & solution
To meet this requirement, JYGA recommended installing an automatic multi-line palletizer with a 4-axis robot.
The multipacks are transferred onto a roller table. Each pack can be turned when required using a manipulator fitted with a clamp. When a row is complete, it is transferred laterally to make room for a new row. When a full layer has been prepared, it moves to the end of the conveyor at the robot pickup station.
The robot picks a complete layer from one of the preparation tables using its gripper and places it at the corresponding palletizing station on the stopped pallet conveyor. The layers are picked using forks passing between the rollers. The robot is also equipped with retractable suction cups for handling layer pads.
