A modular multi-format case packer

The Multi-Format wrap around Case Packer 4.0 is designed around a modular architecture. Standardised mechanical subassemblies can be configured for a wide range of case formats and case packing layouts, including different case dimensions, flap lengths and throughput requirements.

This modular approach provides a more economical solution, shorter delivery times and improved machine reliability.

Ergonomic multi-format case packing designed around the operator

The new design of this modular case packer was developed with line operators in mind. The cardboard blank magazine is easier to access, for example, with the loading height reduced from 1,040 mm to 950 mm.

Access to machine components has also been simplified for maintenance. A dedicated system allows teams to reach the magazine mechanics more easily.

The 15-inch HMI provides intuitive machine operation. JYGA developed a new interface that enables operators to start production, carry out format changeovers and access key functions within seconds. The same environment is available across JYGA machines. Operators can also open PDF documentation and customised video tutorials directly from the interface.

Preventive maintenance

The case packer HMI includes tools that allow operators to plan preventive maintenance. Custom alerts can be created for the machine points that need to be monitored.

Selective-event camera recording

The case packer can be equipped with rolling, selective video recording. Specific machine events — such as throughput reductions, stops or door openings — can be recorded so the fault and the sequence immediately before it can be reviewed on the HMI.

Connectivity

IO-Link communication makes the case packer more connected and informative. Machine data can be fed directly back to the HMI in real time.

A precise and robust modular case packer

The multi-format case packer uses high-performance case-forming technology. Accurate case geometry is important because it helps achieve precise edge alignment during palletising and therefore supports product protection.

A well-formed case also fits the products efficiently with minimal wasted space. As with JYGA delta robot case packers, this pick-and-place machine is based on mechanical principles that have been proven over many years.

A flexible and accessible case packer

Automatic format changeovers are supported by RFID tool identification. From the HMI, the machine can adjust the cardboard magazine, chain-bed spacing and pre-break tooling. This gives manufacturers greater flexibility, makes the operator’s work easier and can reduce adjustment time from around 10–15 minutes to approximately 3 minutes while lowering the risk of error.

The glazed design gives a clearer view of the different machine stations for easier visual monitoring.

A more resource-efficient case packer

JYGA states that it offsets the energy and resources used internally to design its machines through tree-planting projects, and also offers customers the option to offset emissions associated with new equipment through additional planting.

The multi-format case packer also includes an energy-recovery system that can feed recovered energy back to the machine drives.
