Wrap-Around Case Packer for Macaron Cartons

This application was developed for a company that sells premium culinary specialities in France and internationally, including surprise breads, canapés, macarons and sweet petits fours. To support its ambition of becoming a leader in premium French-style aperitif and cocktail products, the company chose to expand its production facility. In this context, it contacted JYGA for an automatic case-packing solution for cartons containing macarons.
At the customer’s request, the system had to receive stacks of flat case blanks, receive cartons from an existing cartoner, form the cases, load the cartons, close the cases and discharge them. The case packer also includes a four-corner glued lid system and integrates an existing labeller.

Project & solution

To meet this requirement, JYGA recommended installing an automatic wrap-around case packer.

The cartons are collected at the cartoner outfeed and transferred twice before reaching an accumulation conveyor. At the pickup station, a stop system isolates one carton at a time. At the same time, flat cardboard blanks are loaded into the case-packer magazine. The wrap-around case packer has five stations for forming, closing, inspecting and ejecting the case. At the machine outfeed, the cases arrive one by one at the lid-placement station. A two-axis manipulator picks the lid blank and transfers it above the case. It places the blank on the referenced case while successively folding and gluing the side and longitudinal flaps. For easier opening, the lid is not glued to the case itself. The lidded case is then lowered and released to make way for the next case.

At the lidding-machine outfeed, the cases are discharged crosswise.
