Wrap-Around Case Packing for Lidded Cups

This application was developed for a subsidiary of a French food group specialising in seafood processing, meat products and frozen-food processing.

To support its strong growth, the company wanted to improve the performance of its production lines. It therefore contacted JYGA for an automatic case-packing project for lidded plastic aperitif tubs.

The system had to receive stacks of flat cardboard blanks as well as products on two lanes. It also had to form the cases, load the products and discharge the full cases.

• Full cases had to be discharged in stacks

For this project, the company was looking for a reliable partner able to meet performance and lead-time requirements and demonstrate expertise in end-of-line packaging design.

Project & solution

To meet this requirement, JYGA recommended a mechanised wrap-around case packer for shelf-ready trays. The machine includes a cardboard-blank magazine, a product-loading module and a case-discharge module.

Key features

At the case-packing station, the two-axis manipulator is fitted with an interchangeable gripper using either suction cups or clamps. A labeller is integrated at the machine outfeed. A ratchet stacker then stacks the cases before they are discharged onto a gravity conveyor for manual pickup.
