Case Packing for Serum Bags
Product

Serum pouches
Company
This application was developed for a company specialising in industrial microbiology for the food, cosmetics and biopharmaceutical industries. The company asked JYGA to supply an automatic case-packing system for ready-to-use serum pouches.
The case packer must receive stacks of flat case blanks, receive products manually, integrate a pouch labeller and an RFID labeller, form the cases, pack the pouches, close the cases, integrate a case labeller and then discharge the full cases.
Project & solution
To meet this requirement, JYGA recommended the installation of a wrap-around case packer for closed cases.
The pouches are manually fed flat at a regular rate of approximately 8 pouches/min. They are carried on a modular conveyor to the case-packing area. A twin-belt system then turns over every other pouch before robotic picking.
Stacks of flat blanks are manually loaded by the operator into the belt magazine. A vacuum gripper destacks the bottom blank and forms it into a U shape between 2 lugs.
At the next station, a 6-axis robot fitted with a roller gripper places the diluent pouches. At the following stations, the case flaps are glued and then pressed. As an option, the case weight can be checked at the final station, with non-conforming cases rejected onto a gravity conveyor.
At the case-packer outfeed, full cases are discharged in line onto a conveyor. They are then presented to a labeller that applies a label to the long side of the cases. The labelled cases are then routed to palletising (see the case study on palletising pouch cases).
