Case Packing for Butter Portions

JYGA was contacted by a family-owned company with traditional expertise in dairy, cheese and butter production. The company wanted to improve the performance of its production line by automating the case packing of butter portions. JYGA recommended installing a wrap-around case packer at the customer’s plant. The solution developed by JYGA is responsible for packing butter portions into cases. It forms the cases, loads the products, closes the full cases and discharges them.

Butter-portion case packing solution

To meet the customer’s requirements, JYGA developed a wrap-around case packer for butter portions. The products are packed into shelf-ready cases. The butter portions arrive from an existing line and are conveyed to the case packer, where they accumulate at the end of the conveyor. The portions are transferred into the manipulator gripper, turned over and placed into the pre-formed case. Once all layers of butter portions have been loaded, the case flaps are folded and glued. The full case is discharged lengthwise from the side of the case packer. Non-compliant cases are discharged on a separate conveyor.

A multi-format butter-portion case packing solution

The customer required a flexible, multi-format solution for several case sizes. The butter portions are packed into four different shelf-ready case formats. JYGA therefore developed a butter-portion case packer with a quick and straightforward format change for the operator. The changeover takes no more than ten minutes.
