Company
JYGA, a specialist in churned-butter case packing since 1992, was contacted by one of its customers for a packaging project. This group, a major player in the French dairy and butter industry, was looking for an automatic solution for packing churned butter into cases. JYGA therefore recommended the installation of a wrap-around case packer. This flexible solution automates churned-butter case packing while providing a high level of flexibility and autonomy. The JYGA machine had to be efficient, reliable and modular. The churned butter is packed into asymmetrical close-fitting shelf-ready cases.
Project & solution
A flexible churned-butter case packer
To meet the customer’s requirements, JYGA developed a churned-butter case packing solution. The products arrive at the conveyor outfeed and are accumulated at the end of the conveyor. At the same time, flat cardboard blanks are loaded manually into the magazine by an operator. The blanks are then positioned in a U shape against the chain lugs to pre-form the case before the case-packing station. A manipulator picks up the churned-butter portions, turns them over and gently loads them into the case. This process ensures reliable case packing while protecting the product and maintaining its quality. Once all the layers of butter have been loaded, the case flaps are folded and glued.
Case packing designed around the churned butter
With its multi-format churned-butter case packer, JYGA provides a solution tailored to the product. The cardboard case wraps around the butter portions to create a strong, robust pack that is easy to transport while preserving the shape and quality of the products. The solution also optimises the case size according to the products being packed.
