Case Packer for Butter Dishes

JYGA developed a food-industry case-packing solution for a customer belonging to a major global dairy group. To support its ambition of becoming a leader in traditional Normandy butter, the company chose to automate the case packing of butter tubs. To improve production-line performance, JYGA proposed installing a wrap-around case packer. The machine automates butter-tub case packing while providing both flexibility and autonomy.

Butter-tub case packing using the wrap-around process

The butter tubs arrive on a single-lane conveyor. Diverters then distribute them over two conveyors to form batches. At the same time, stacks of cardboard blanks are destacked from the magazine using a suction gripper. The blank is positioned in a U shape between two lugs on the transfer chain. The manipulator picks the butter tubs in batches and loads them into the case while it is being formed. This operation is repeated until the case is full. The filled case is transferred to the closing station, where the flaps are folded and glued with hot-melt adhesive. Once case packing is complete, the full case is discharged laterally onto an outfeed conveyor.

Multi-format butter-tub case packing

This JYGA butter-tub case packer can handle several case formats, including both open and closed cases. Changing between cardboard case formats takes no more than 10 minutes. The machine also accommodates different butter-tub shapes, including round, oval and rectangular formats. The solution can pack 11 cases per minute and reach a maximum throughput of 60 products per minute.
