Wrap-Around Case Packer for Brioche Bread Bags

This case packer was designed for a company specialising in the industrial production of bread and fresh pastries. The company asked JYGA to supply a robotic case-packing system for brioche bread sachets.

The automatic case packer had to receive stacks of flat case blanks, receive bread sachets lengthwise in line, perform several checks on the sachets, form the cases, pack the products, close the cases and discharge the full cases.

Project & solution

To meet this requirement, JYGA recommended installing a wrap-around case packer for open cases.

The machine is equipped with an automatic cardboard-blank loading system. Pallets holding stacks of flat blanks are positioned by the operator between floor guides. Embedded detection software identifies the presence and position of the cardboard blanks on the pallet. Using this information, a 6-axis articulated robot positions itself to remove the blanks from the pallet. The robot and its clamp gripper then carry the blanks to the case-packer magazine. Once the pallet is empty, a stack light informs the operator that it can be removed and replaced.

At the same time, once a case is formed, it is presented in front of the first loading module. An inserter picks the batch and transfers it into the waiting case. At the following stations, the case flaps are successively folded, glued and pressed. At the outfeed, full cases are discharged in line on a conveyor.

A detection system checks for poorly glued flaps and verifies case fill. Non-compliant cases are transferred to a gravity conveyor.
A labeller then applies a label to the side of each case.
