Company
JYGA, a specialist in butter case packing since 1992, developed a new solution for one of its customers, a major player in the dairy industry, cheese and butter production. This family-owned company needed a flexible, high-performance solution for packing butter into cases. At the customer’s request, the JYGA system starts with a flat cardboard blank and forms the case around the butter portions.
Project & solution
A case packer for butter
This wrap-around case packer for butter starts with a flat cardboard blank and uses actuators to form the case by folding the flaps. The butter portions accumulate on a conveyor before being transferred to an accumulation conveyor. A manipulator picks the products from underneath to prevent deformation, preserving their original shape. The first layer of butter is placed in the bottom of the pre-formed cardboard case, and the case packer repeats the operation until the final layer has been loaded. Once packing is complete, the case is transferred by lug chains to the closing station. The cardboard flaps are folded and glued to create a strong case that is easy to transport. The resulting case-packing process is both flexible and fast.
Multi-format butter case packing
With its multi-format butter case packer, JYGA automates the packing of different butter formats. Product format changeovers are automated and take less than three minutes, providing high flexibility and greater operator autonomy.
An advanced butter case packing solution
This latest-generation butter case packer handles up to 150 butter portions per minute, or 15 cases per minute. The multi-format machine features an intuitive human-machine interface (HMI). It is increasingly connected and communicative, allowing case-packing operation to be monitored remotely. Operating-instruction videos are integrated to help operators work more independently.
