This application was developed for a French company specialising in pastries, with iconic products such as crêpes, madeleines and pound cakes. With five production sites in western France, the company aims to maintain its leading position in the pastry sector. To strengthen this position and develop its pound-cake business, it contacted JYGA for a solution to wrap-around case pack sachets of pound cake.
Solutions and results
To meet this requirement, JYGA recommended the installation of a wrap-around case packer for shelf-ready cases.
The pound-cake sachets arrive on a conveyor at the production-line outfeed. They are presented to the robots by a pusher. At the same time, cardboard blanks in the automatic case-packer magazine are picked and positioned between lugs to form the case.
Two 6-axis robots pick the pound-cake sachets and place them into the cases. A sensor on the gripper checks that the products have been picked correctly. Once filled and closed, the cases are discharged.
The case-packing cell includes several options:
- A case labeller
- A stacker for stacking cases
- A vertical lifting system for stacks of cases
