Automatic Case Packer for Cosmetic Doypacks

Against a background of growing demand, the customer wanted to automate the case packing of its stand-up pouches in order to increase productivity and improve the reliability of end-of-line operations. The required installation had to provide fully automated case packing while ensuring operator safety and product conformity. The customer also expected equipment flexibility to handle several stand-up-pouch formats, fast format changes and smooth integration with the existing packaging line.

Project & solution

To meet these requirements, a complete installation was built around an RSC case packer.

The automatic case packer receives the stand-up pouches from the line, orients them and then loads them into continuously formed RSC cases.

It includes:

• Two 6-axis robots fitted with interchangeable grippers that accurately place the stand-up pouches upright in the cases.
• An RSC case-forming module with flat-blank magazine, destacking arm, bottom tape closing and automated conveying.
• Processing capacity suited to the customer’s different formats:
  • 500 ml stand-up pouch in cases of 3 (up to 16 cases/minute).
  • 400 ml stand-up pouches in cases of 6 (up to 8 cases/minute).
• A top-closing tape system and integrated labeller, ensuring case traceability.
• An outfeed conveyor with checkweighing and automatic rejection of non-conforming cases.

The complete system is controlled via an intuitive 15-inch touchscreen enabling fast (under 5 minutes) and safe format changeovers.

This solution ensures continuous flow from the production-line outfeed through to palletising, with a high level of safety thanks to mesh guarding, electrically interlocked doors and integrated emergency stops.
